About Me

Welcome to CFew Photography.

Hi there! I’m Caitlyn and welcome to my world through the lens.

This is my story. This is my passion.

My story starts in a small subsection of Milford CT. Photography has always been a part of me. As a kid growing up I would tear through disposable cameras and polaroid’s as fast as I could trying to capture every slice of life. That is, until receiving my first film Canon at the age of 12. That’s when everything kicked into full swing.

As I grew I researched and critiqued as much as I could with every roll of film. Mainly I got started photographing horses and the equestrian world. Soon I developed a love for landscape, nature, and architectural photography. Having traveled for horse shows and then around the world (literally! 13 countries!), I started to see the world in so many new ways. The culture, the environment, the people, they were all a part of bringing my love for photography to a new level. Mind you I was still doing all this in film even when the digital era hit. I love the challenge of really learning the camera instead of it learning for me.

I brought my love to the Delaware College of Art and Design, DCAD if you will, and learned more techniques and advanced my knowledge even further. I graduated with my Associates degree and had one of my photography books chosen to be one of 2, kept in their permanent library. It was an exciting time! However, life had other plans beyond more schooling so I took the show to the road!

Not long after I found myself working for LifeTouch studios. You know, picture day in school and JCPenny/Target portraits?! I started off photographing for the schools and on the off season I was able to move to a studio inside of JCPenny. I quickly moved to Assistant manager! I helped with 2-4 studios all over Connecticut photographing any age from newborns, to the couple celebrating their 55 year anniversary. I had the best time and it forced me to get super creative. In this setting I had a studio that was supposed to do almost everything for me and I had to get 15-20 photos in 15 minutes! This was no small task but it got me to think more about how to change everyone’s session a little more than normal. I was creating silhouettes, angles, and views that was not normal in such a commercialized place. I soon had clients coming in monthly doing themed shots for their kids, couples that saw my work, and clients that realized I had more to offer than just a typical “smile” moment. I stayed with the company for 4 years before moving to South Carolina. And now here I am! Photographing even more subjects such as motorsports, cars, boudoir, portraiture, weddings, engagements, and much more!

I’ve always had a camera in my hand because it just feels natural. But even with being so “at home” behind the lens, there’s an even better feeling. The feeling you get from those who have let you capture their memories. The smile my photos bring to their face and the excitement when I first release them. That feeling will forever win my heart over.

Now it’s time to introduce you and those memories you’re ready to capture because that was my story, and this, is my passion.
